Abstract

Subsurface mapping is required as a basic reference in the study of natural resources in Serang area. The Serang City and County are one of the areas with rapid industrial and population growth. In this preliminary study, a gravity survey was executed to map gravity anomaly of the area. The gravity field was measured at 204 stations in Serang City and County, with approximately 1 km distance between two stations. The result is a Bouguer anomaly gravity map that classified the region into 3 (three) units.  The western part of study area, which includes Serang City to south, has a high gravity anomaly. The eastern part (Ciruas region) has a low gravity anomaly. And the northern part (to the north coast) has a moderate gravity anomaly. Subsurface modeling indicated a presence of shallow basin at the bedrock beneath the east part of Serang, flanked by ridges on the west and the east sides. Such bedrock topography condition would affect the origin of aquifers and possible flow of groundwaters.
